The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) “strongly” condemned this Sunday the attack launched by the United States against the Iranian nuclear facilities of Isfahan, Natanz and Fordow, while calling on the international community to “speak out strongly” against these events.

“We demand the immediate cessation of these illegal and unilateral actions, and we call on the international community to speak out strongly against this unacceptable attack on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iran,” ALBA said in a statement released on its website.

In the bloc’s view, the bombing perpetrated by the U.S. is a “flagrant aggression” that “violates the Charter of the United Nations, International Law and the most basic principles of peaceful coexistence.”

Therefore, it pointed out that the attack constitutes “an inadmissible act of war.” “It violates the international nuclear security regime and the rules and safeguards of the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency),” ALBA maintained.

In the writing, the alliance also reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to “peace, justice, respect for international law and peaceful coexistence between nations” and warned about the consequences of military escalation.

This Sunday, the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, in an interview with Fox News, invited Iran to sit down and negotiate a nuclear agreement in which it rejects the enrichment of uranium, after the US bombing against the three main plants in the country.

For its part, the UN Security Council was urgently convened to meet this Sunday at the request of Iran, as confirmed by the presidency of the Council, this month in the hands of Guyana.

The body never meets on weekends or holidays except in cases of extreme emergency, such as wars or invasions of countries.
